The Switcher: Geralt Of Rivia Is Coming To Nintendo Switch This Year With The Witcher 3 Complete Edition

Geralt Of Rivia if officially heading over to the Nintendo Switch later this year with The Witcher 3 Complete Edition. The title has been rumored for weeks to be making its way onto the portable console before E3 even began, but few considered it technically possible because of the demands the game would put on the hardware.

It is no understatement to say that porting the game to the Switch is a massive undertaking, and yet, developer CD Projekt Red has pulled it off. You can check out the teaser trailer below:

There is no doubt that some sacrifices likely have been made in terms of visual quality, but this should not come as a surprise to anyone familiar with the hardware constraints of the Switch compared to the PS4 or the Xbox One, to say nothing of a high-end gaming PC. So, long as the gameplay runs smoothly, there should be no reason not to enjoy it.

Since this is the Complete Edition, players can look forward to all 16 DLC releases and the two major expansions: Blood and Wind and Hearts of Stone. It is not an exaggeration to say that players can look forward to 100+ hours of gameplay, easily.

It will be fascinating to eventually get a closer look at how the game was ported and see what was sacrificed in terms of graphics since most of the content seems to be intact. Hopefully, the game does not take up too much space, though that might be asking too much.

Many people genuinely believed that the port would be impossible and that at best we might be getting was being able to stream the game onto the Switch, or wait for Nintendo to release a more powerful Switch 2.0. However, if The Witcher 3 Complete Edition turns out to be a commercial and critical success on the Switch, we can probably expect to see other games brought over to the system.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will be coming to Nintendo Switch sometime this year.
